Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026 • Effective Date: October 1, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to The Checkmate Labs ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting the privacy, security, and integrity of personal information provided by parents, guardians, and students who visit our website (thecheckmatelabs.com) and participate in our online chess academy sessions.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you enroll for our free 45-minute demo classes, interact with our curriculum, or communicate with our coaches.

2. Protection of Children’s Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)

Because we provide educational coaching for children between ages 5 and 16, protecting minors' privacy is our highest priority:

  • Parental Consent: We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). All class bookings, communications, and consent must be initiated and managed by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Minimal Data Collection: For students, we collect only minimal information necessary to deliver personalized chess instruction (such as the child's first name, age group, and current chess skill level).
  • No Public Profiles: Student data is never shared publicly, sold, rented, or made accessible to other users.
  • Parental Control: Parents have the right to review, update, or request the immediate deletion of their child’s information at any time by contacting contact@thecheckmatelabs.com.

3. Information We Collect

We may collect information in the following ways:

  • Contact Information: Parent or guardian's full name, email address, phone/WhatsApp number, and timezone when booking a trial class via our Calendly integration.
  • Student Information: Child's first name, age, and prior chess experience to tailor the demo assessment.
  • Technical & Usage Data: IP address, browser type, device information, and interaction data collected through cookies and tracking tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Pixel) to improve page performance and optimize our ad campaigns.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely for educational and operational purposes:

  • To schedule, confirm, and conduct live 1:1 online chess demo sessions via Google Meet.
  • To deliver your child’s customized 2-page Skill & Focus Assessment report following the trial.
  • To send calendar reminders, schedule updates, or answer parent inquiries.
  • To analyze website usage, measure advertising effectiveness, and improve user experience.
  • We will NEVER sell or rent your personal data to third-party data brokers.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We work with trusted third-party platforms to provide our services:

  • Calendly: Used to manage demo scheduling and calendar time slots.
  • Google Meet / Google Workspace: Used for secure live 1:1 video meetings between students and coaches.
  • Meta (Facebook & Instagram) & Google Ads: Used for advertising analytics and conversion tracking to ensure our marketing reaches families interested in youth chess education.

6. Data Security

We employ industry-standard technical and organizational security measures, including HTTPS encryption, restricted internal access, and secure cloud infrastructure, to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration.

7. Your Rights & Contact Information

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data at any time. If you have questions regarding this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your rights, please reach out to us at:
